General Questions

On average, it costs $350 to see a General Practitioner (also known as a Primary Care Physician, or a Family Doctor) in New York City without insurance. When you see one of our providers, whether it’s to get a mole looked at, for a standard check-up, or for a pap smear, you will never pay more than $150. Since you usually need a referral to see a specialist, you’d be paying to see a GP, on top of the cost of a specialist, which can cost $500 (or more!). We save you both time and money in making sure you’re getting the care you actually need, when you need it.
A membership with Lemon Health saves you money if you’re going to be using our services often, frequently need to see specialists (ENT, OBGYN, etc.), or have a less comprehensive insurance plan. A la carte offerings allow for more flexibility and no strings but are paid for as you use them, so you could end up paying more at the end of the year than you would have with a membership.
Yes! Lemon Health can provide care for your whole family.
No, we are not. However, many of our staff work at hospitals throughout the New York area.
Yes and no. You can use our Telehealth and texting services, wherever you are in the country! For now, however, our providers are all located in New York City and are not able to come to you in person. That being said, we’re planning to offer Lemon at Home in more cities soon. We appreciate your enthusiasm and we hear you! Follow us on social @lemonhealthco to be the first to know about new locations, and feel free to send us a note letting us know where you’d like to see Lemon Health come next.
Yes! Make an appointment with a provider, and we can arrange for your prescription to be picked up at a pharmacy of your choice. Please note that prescription costs are not covered by a Lemon Health membership or a la carte appointment. Your provider will be able to discuss costs and options with you, and if you have insurance we’ll find out if you’re covered.
Nope! Simply make an appointment with a specialist of your choosing here.
In order to keep us all as safe as possible during COVID-19, Lemon at Home is only available once a provider deems it necessary to see you in person. Eventually, you will be able to book a provider and have them come to your home, without the in-between step of Telehealth. Trust us, we can’t wait to see you!
If you’ve made an appointment in advance, yes! When you log in to our portal to make an appointment, you will have the option to read our providers’ bios and select one. You can also select “Any Provider” within whatever specialty you’re looking at. If you do select a specific provider, please keep in mind that this could limit your choice of appointment times. For Urgent Care appointments, you will be connected with an Emergency Medical Professional so that you can be helped as soon as possible.

We get it, things change! You can upgrade your plan whenever you want and can change to a less comprehensive plan or cancel within 60 days of purchasing your plan. If 60 days go by and you want to make a change, don’t worry! We’ll roll over the rest of your plan to your account on Klara, where you can use it to book a la carte services, keep it until you’d like to start another membership, or gift it. If you’re in this situation, let us know, and we’ll be happy to help.

Lemon Health is a fantastic substitute for or addition to a smaller insurance plan. Robust insurance plans are built for large companies with hundreds of employees and can get extremely expensive. We understand that! Lemon Health allows you to customize a plan for your employees based on their needs. Does Matt have Type 1 Diabetes and frequently visit a specialist? Is Jasmine pregnant but otherwise rarely visits a doctor? Does Daniela see a dermatologist monthly? Maybe you want a plan that allows your employees to speak with a therapist once a month! Billing & Payment

We participate with most insurance providers, including Medicare and Medicaid, and our Treatment Coordinators will verify your benefit structure when it comes time for your appointment. Feel free to reach out at [email protected] for any provider-specific questions.
We accept all major debit and credit cards, as well as insurance providers. Contact us if you have a question about payment.

You have a few options!

  • Online: You can pay online using our booking platform, Klara, when you book your appointment.
  • Over the phone: When you speak to your provider during a Telehealth appointment, you can pay then.
  • If your provider would like to send someone to your home to provide further care after speaking with you, they will quote you a price and you can pay, or you can wait for them to pre-authorize your insurance.
  • When we have brick-and-mortar locations, Lemon Health will have a Menu of Common Services, which will allow you to pick. If we were you, we’d want to know exactly what we were getting into!
